Viewing FXS Port Status
You can view the status of FXS ports (channels). The page on which the port status is displayed also allows you to reset a port (see Resetting an Analog Channel) and configure a port name (see Configuring an FXS Port Name).
➢ | To view FXS port status: |
1. | Open the Port Status page: |
● | Navigation tree:Monitor menu > Monitor tab > Summary folder > Port Status. |
● | Monitor home page: Click an FXS blade (see Viewing Device Status on Monitor Page). |
2. | From the drop-down list, located on the top of the page, select the required FXS blade; the blade's FXS ports are displayed: |
Each row of ports depicts a specific 50-pin FXS connector on the specific FXS blade (rear panel), where the top row is the right-most connector (channels 1-24), the middle row the middle connector (channels 25-48) and the bottom row the left-most connector (channels 49-72).
3. | Port status is indicated by the color of the port icons: |
Color of Port Icon |
Description |
---|---|
- Green |
Indicates that the telephone connected to the FXS port is currently in a call. |
- Gray |
Indicates that the telephone connected to the FXS port is in idle state (i.e., on-hook state). |
- Blue |
Indicates that the telephone connected to the FXS port is in off-hook state, but no call has been established. |
- Orange |
Indicates that the FXS port has been activated for Lifeline. The Lifeline telephone must be connected to Port 1 and the Lifeline interface (PSTN / PBX) to Port 25. Lifeline is activated upon a power outage. |
- Red |
Indicates that the FXS port is faulty and in Out-of-Service status. Out-of-Service status is due to a hardware problem (such as SPI error or thermal shutdown) or due to a DSP failure. The device sends the SNMP alarm, acPortServiceAlarm to indicate this port status. If Out of Service is due to a port grounding event (i.e., short circuit), the port is returned to service (alarm cleared) if the event is resolved within 10 seconds. If the event remains after 10 seconds, the port remains in Out-of-Service state and the device periodically (every 30 seconds) checks whether the event has been resolved. When the event is resolved, the port is returned to service (alarm cleared). Instead of waiting for the device's periodic polling, you can immediately refresh the port's status by resetting the port (see Resetting an Analog Channel). |
4. | To view detailed information of a port, click its port icon, and then on the table displayed at the bottom of the page, click the desired tab (SIP, Basic, RTP/RTCP, or Voice Settings): |
